I found an interesting motif in a Renaissance embroidery book and I mirrored the motif to make it double-ended. I then added border motifs to come up with this over-all design. I thought the resulting pattern looked a bit like rows of beetles, so I called this cowl Wibban which means crawling thing or beetle in Old English.
