Yarn:
30-55 yards of white yarn for body
20-45 yards of red yarn for scarf
10-35 yards of dark brown yarn for branches
5-15 yards of orange yarn for nose

This pattern is written round by round so that you can use any weight yarn you want to create all sorts of sizes of snowman friends. Try sock weight yarn for ornaments perfectly sized for your tree, or bulky weight yarn for decorations for your mantel! The heavier the yarn weight, the more yardage needed.

Don’t have all of the colors of yarn on hand? We do! We also sell this pattern as a kit in our shop!

Gauge: You pick! Simply knit with your choice of yarn on needles 2-3 sizes smaller than called for to get a tight knit fabric your stuffing wont show through.

Needles: You pick! A 40” or longer circular needle (for Magic Loop Method) in a size right for your yarn. You can also optionally use two double pointed needles in the same size as your circular, but it is not necessary. See the pattern for more info.

Notions: Scissors, tapestry needle, beginning of the round stitch marker (removable or closed) and optional row counter, and 4 removable stitch markers.

Finished size: Varies depending on the yarn you use. For the samples shown in the pattern we used sock weight yarn and 6mm safety eyes. The bodies came out 3”, not including legs and other limbs.

This 3 page pattern is very clearly written, and Rebecca offers many tutorials on the techniques used in it on her blog to keep you from feeling confused while knitting: www.rebeccadanger.typepad.com.
