Crochet a sun hat for the summer! Make this hat with cotton, hemp, jute, or raffia for a straw hat look.

I used yellow striped Baker’s twine from Crafter’s Square brand, which is the brand from Dollar Tree. Any yellow striped bakers twine will work, though. The combination of the yellow stripes with the crochet stitching makes the twine look almost like straw, which adds to the summery look of the hat.

This pattern uses 2 strands of twine held together at once, to make up a sport weight-like strand. If you want, you could substitute for worsted or sport weight yarn, or else a similar thickness of jute or hemp twine, or raffia ribbon (raffia ribbon might require a larger hook size and pattern adjustments)
