This is a beginner-friendly colorwork vest with a squiggle down the front that is done using the intarsia technique. It includes video examples of how to do the intarsia, which follows a visual chart. The body is worked in panels before the pieces are seamed. The arm hole ribbing and collar ribbing is then added by picking up stitches, with the option of doing a multi-color or solid color ribbing. This vest is completely reversible (both panels are knit with the same measurements), so you don’t have to choose which colors you want to be the front and which you want to be the back – you can switch it up depending on your mood!

Both of my samples for this vest were knitted with worsted weight yarn – one with Portobello from Hobbii Yarn which is an acrylic/cotton blend, and the other with Loops & Threads Impeccable yarn which is an acrylic yarn. Because of the potential multicolor feature of the vest, I want you to be able to use whatever worsted weight yarn either fits your budget and needs or is in your stash. You can use any worsted yarn that gets you gauge!

The body of the vest is done without shaping, so measure from the largest part of your torso if this is not your chest. This pattern was written with 5” of positive ease built in.
XXS(XS, S, M, L)(XL,1XL, 2XL)(3XL, 4XL, 5XL): vest at the largest part will measure 29(33, 37, 41, 45)(49, 53, 57)(61, 65, 69) inches or 73.75)(83.75, 94, 104.25, 114.25)(124.5, 134.75, 145)(155, 165.25, 175.25) centimeters
To fit a chest circumference of 24(28, 32, 36, 40)(44, 48, 52)(56, 60, 64) inches or 61(71, 81, 91, 101)(111, 121, 131)(141, 151, 162.5) cm
You can choose how you want the fit to be, so pay most attention to the finished circumference and how much positive or negative ease you’d like.

Estimated yardage is as follows:
You will need approx 170(200, 220, 240, 255)(270, 285, 300)(340, 390, 450) yds of each color, if you are knitting with only 2 colors. The entire vest will use approximately 400(440, 480, 510, 540)(579, 600, 630, 660, 690) yds yards of yarn, total. However this is a great project to use up scraps (for the ribbing, colors, entire back panel in stripes, etc..) so you can absolutely get creative on your colors if you run out of yarn!
