Wild Mountain Thyme is named for herbs used in traditional Armenian teas. While collaborating with Armenuhi of Oysters and Purls on this design, war broke out in Armenia, and purchases of this pattern went to help this cause.

Wild Mountain Thyme is a simple top down pullover, designed to showcase this stunning Oysters and Purls naturally dyed yarn. A subtle sheen, a lofty fiber, and gorgeous color made the skeins irresistible. I immediately cast on when the yarn arrived in early 2020, and all I wanted was beautiful fiber, simple design, and moody, sophisticated color.

With that in mind, the sweater is a top down tee with an elegant diamond motif featured along the yoke. Intentionally placed yarnovers add subtle detail around the colorwork, and the fit is loose and boxy. Sleeves and body are short, but the silhouette is easily modified. Notes are in the pattern to alter as desired.

I used Water (main color) and Fire (accent color). I purposely paired these tonal colors together on my version, as I love the moody, subdued effect it created, but you can see some more contrast in the test knits if you like, and see what Am has just dyed up in her shop, HERE.

If substituting yarn, look for a heavy DK or light worsted weight fiber. I love the rustic quality of this Merino/Romney 2ply wool. Different fibers or yarns may affect fit and drape of sweater.

Modifications for fit may affect yardage needed.
