DESCRIPTION
It’s Spring time. If you are wandering along the pathways of stunning Sardinia, in Italy, among the grass you could spot colorful wild orchids of different colors, ranging from almost white to dark purple, from orange and yellow to soft magenta violet.
If you run into one of this protected flowers, please don’t pick it! Just admire it, take a picture or, once back at home, cast on the shawl which was inspired by this flowers: Wild Orchid Shawl.

Wild Orchid Shawl is a crescent shawl, worked top-down. Regular increases are made on both RS and WS.

The orchid lace motif is easy to knit and the shawl grows quite fast.

The beautiful soft magenta shade of shawl is, at the same time, energetic but with a touch of softness, just like of a wild orchid, that emerges timidly from the grass.

YARN
3 skeins of Malabrigo Lace (100% Baby Merino Wool; 430 m / 470 yds per skein).

Colorway: Hollyhock

Or approximately 1316 m / 1439 yds of similar lace weight yarn.

This shawl uses up all of the yardage of 3 skeins, so please consider purchasing another skein for gauge swatch or working one less section body repeat.

Important: The shawl is worked in 2 strands of yarn held together throughout.

NEEDLES

Size 4 mm / US 6 needles or size to obtain pattern gauge
This shawl is worked flat, but I recommend using an 80-100 cm / 32-40 inch circular needle to accommodate the growing number of stitches.

GAUGE
24 Stitches and 35 Rows in 10 cm (about 4 inches) 
after blocking in stockinette stitch pattern.

Gauge affects finished size and the amount of 
yarn needed.

FINISHED SIZE(after blocking) 

200 cm / 79 in (width) x 50 cm / 20 in (depth).

You can easily adjust the size by making the body section as big or small as you want by modifying the amount of body section repeats.

DESCRIZIONE DEL PATTERN

E’ primavera. Se ci si trova a passeggiare lungo i sentieri della meravigliosa Sardegna, si potrebbero scorgere, tra l’erba, le variopinte orchidee selvatiche di diversi colori, dal quasi bianco fino al viola scuro, dall’arancione e giallo fino al magenta soft.
Se ci si imbatte in uno di questi fiori protetti, per favore non lo si colga, ma lo si ammiri, gli si scatti una foto oppure, una volta a casa, si avvii lo scialle che è stato ispirato da questi fiori, Wild Orchid!

Wild Orchid è uno scialle a mezzaluna, lavorato dall’alto verso il basso. Gli aumenti regolari sono lavorati sia sul dritto che nel rovescio del lavoro.

Il motivo floreale in pizzo è facile da lavorare e lo scialle cresce abbastanza velocemente.

La bella sfumatura di magenta soft dello scialle è, nello stesso tempo, energica ma possiede anche un tocco di morbidezza, così come l’orchidea selvatica che emerge timidamente dall’erba.

FILATO

3 matasse di Malabrigo Lace (100% Baby Merino; circa 430 metri / 470 iarde, 50 grammi / 1,76 once)

Colore: Hollyhock

Oppure circa 1316 metri / circa 1439 iarde di filato simile di peso lace.

Si consideri l’acquisto di un’ulteriore matassa per il campione, poiché il modello utilizza tutto il metraggio del filato suggerito.

Importante: Lo scialle è lavorato con due fili insieme (lace + lace = fingering).

FERRI

Ferri circolari da 4 mm /6 US.

Adattare sempre la misura dei ferri per ottenere il campione.

Lo scialle è lavorato in piano ma è raccomandabile usare ferri circolari da 80-100 cm/ 32-40 pollici per ospitare con comodità il numero crescente di maglie.

CAMPIONE
24 Maglie e 35 Ferri in 10 cm (circa 4 pollici) a 
maglia rasata dopo il bloccaggio.

Sebbene il campione non sia necessario, si tenga 
presente che questo influenzerà le misure finali e 
la quantità di filato di cui si necessita.

MISURE FINITE (dopo il bloccaggio)
200 cm / 79 pollici (larghezza) x 50 cm / 20 pollici (altezza).

Si può facilmente rendere lo scialle più grande o più piccolo, a seconda di come lo si desidera, semplicemente variando il numero di ripetizioni della sezione del corpo.
