“Wild Rose” is a simple top-down cloche with a twist: you knit the hat in stockinette stitch with a reverse stockinette brim and then turn it inside out!

This clever design is especially suited to rustic yarns, because it keeps the smooth knit side of the fabric next to your skin.

The lush color of this yarn – a naturally-dyed organic wool – was inspiration for the dramatic rose, which is knit and sewn to the hat. I also show the hat in woodland colors, in a natural brown wool with an embroidered, free-hand fern.
