Wild Trellis Romper
A step-by-step video tutorial is included.
This design is inspired by the wild climbing flowers that grow in my vegetable garden during winter. They twist and climb around the trellis we use for the pumpkins, filling the garden with delicate little buds and flowers.
The pattern is written for sizes (Preemie 00), Newborn, (1–3 months), 6–9 months, (9–12 months), 12–18 months, (2–3 years). See complete measures of the garment in the last two images.
Although the finished garment looks detailed, the construction is designed to be approachable and clearly guided. This pattern is suitable for intermediate knitters.
It is recommended that you are familiar with knitting, purling, basic increases and decreases. The cable pattern is made with small cables, worked directly on the needles, so no cable needle is needed. The cable chart is included both as a visual chartnd with row-by-row written instructions.
The garment is worked top-down using a raglan construction. First, stitches are cast on for the neckline, then increases are worked until the full neck width is achieved. Raglan increases are then continued until the underarms. The sleeves are separated from the body, and each section is worked in the round. The body is later divided to shape the legs.
The collar is picked up and worked at the end. It is a double “sandwich” collar.
Size shown on the samples is 12-18m
