A winter hat and cowl, knit in light worsted weight yarn, with a striking slip stitch design that evokes the winter woods. The hat seen here is knit in Manos Del Uruguay Maxima, using a solid color contrasted with variegated color

The cowl seen here is knit in Berroco Ginko(TM). Knit as written, the cowl has a circumference of approximately 24”. It can be modified to create a longer cowl, simply by adding stitches in increments of 10.

The hat requires 100 yards each of both colors, the cowl requires 100 yards each of both colors.

Knit the hat in size 7 needles and the cowl in size 8 needles. The gauge for the hat is 20 stitches in four inches. The gauge for the cowl is 18 stitches in four inches. You must wash and block after knitting to release the slipped stitches.
