Willa cardigan is my love letter to wool and the friendships I have made through knitting. The cardigan started as a collaboration with Ruth from Raincloud & Sage, whose work I have admired on social media and with whom I’ve had the chance to connect and work with on a few previous occasions. With the Willa cardigan I wanted to create a classic cabled cardigan where the wool itself would take the center stage,, but with a modern twist that would make it exciting to knit and wear. I even named the cardigan after wool, as Willa is the old-fashioned spelling of the Finnish word for villa (meaning wool).

Willa cardigan is especially designed for Raincloud & Sage Homestead. It is knitted seamlessly from bottom upwards. The sleeves have long and slim cuffs and the rest of the sleeves are oversized. The yoke is shaped with raglan decreases. The body and the sleeves have cable and bobble patterns combined with moss stitch. The button band is picked up from the body and folded double for a finished look. The Willa cardigan works best with rustic, woolly yarns. Softer and smoother yarns might drape differently and change the look of the sleeves.
