NOTES
Construction: the Winckley cardigan is worked seamlessly from the bottom up, with an allover slip stitch pattern and ribbed edgings. Stitches are cast on at the hem and worked in one piece to the underarms, where the back and fronts are then divided. Gentle decreases shape the front neck, whilst the armholes are left without shaping to produce a relaxed drop shoulder fit.
A 3 needle bind off is used to join the shoulder ‘seams’. Stitches are picked up around the fronts for the buttonband which features contrast piping. The sleeves are worked from the top down by picking up stitches around the armhole. The slipped stitch pattern decreases in size towards the cuff, which is gathered into a 1x1 rib.
