A windstopper hat is a necessity in my part of the world: the southern part of Sweden. The landscape is flat and close to the ocean. When the stormy winds sweeps in there are not many places to hide away from them. A close-fitting hat is a must if you don’t want to catch a cold (and red ears!). I worked my simple hat/beanie with the intention of sumptious cables that ensures a tight fit.

Construction
The hat is worked bottom up and in the round. It is seamless and the pretty cables are really easy to work! The simplicity of the hat makes it elegant and cozy! The sumptous cables transfers into the regular decreases of the crown of the hat which makes it simple and beautiful to look at.

Size/sizes and gauge
The hat is one size. You could modify the circumference by working to different gauges:
Working at 26 sts to 10cm/4” gives a circumference of 46cm/18”
Working at 25 sts to 10cm/4” gives a circumference of 48cm/19”
Working at 24 sts to 10cm/4” gives a circumference of 50cm/19.7”

Yarn The hat is worked in Rowan Cashmere, a DK weight yarn that comes in balls of 25gr/0.88oz and 75m/82yards. I needed 2 balls to work the hat. You might use a nice DK weight yarn with great stitch-definition that works to gauge.

I strongly recommend that you make a swatch before starting your work!

The pattern
The cables are written (row-by-row instructions). There is no chart.
