The rolling waves in these socks are created with eyelets, texture, and simple colorwork. The texture represents the sea foam that forms in these waves, and also serves as a defining edge for the colorwork. Because of this texture, less contrast is needed between the colors than usually needed for traditional colorwork, making this a perfect pattern to use with mini skein sets that have more of a gradient effect.

Of course, alternating a main color and a contrast color (or colors) is always another fun option for these socks!
