This jumper began with seven balls of yarn left over from another project, and has become the jumper I wear more than any other. I’ve worn it to my office and I’ve worn it late at night while reading in bed. When I wrote this I was 5 months pregnant and this cardie was the only non-maternity sweater I could still wear (thought I admit it was getting a little tight around the chest!).

The closure is made of knitted bobbles and crochet loops, but you could use hooks and eyes or the optional rose pin. The whole thing knits up quickly and with careful row counting, is suitable for an intermediate knitter. It can be made with any 10 ply/worsted yarn but the sample was named for Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran in the Merlot colourway.
