Wings in Amsterdam
This small triangular shawl is knit from the bottom up. The sample used two skeins in worsted weight, but you could use any weight from lace to aran. For a larger shawl you can add additional repeats of the shawl body. Note: If you increase the size of the shawl you will need additional yarn.
The lace pattern in this shawl was created from the word “wings” using Naomi Parkhurst’s technique for embedding words into knitting patterns.
Materials
Yarn - 400 yds/384 m of worsted weight yarn. The sample used Cannoli Worsted by Kim Dyes Yarn, 200 yds/192 m, 2 skeins in Amsterdam.
Needles - US size 7 (4.5 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge below. 32”/80 cm circular recommended. If you are using a yarn different from the sample, use a needle that gives you a fabric you like.
Miscellaneous - darning needle for weaving in ends.
Finished size - 47”/119 cm across the top and 28”/71 cm deep
