This is a soft and cosy hat and scarf combo from my Winter Blues collection. The scarf is extra long so it can be wrapped around the neck a couple of times or worn long and that hat fits snuggly.

It is easy enough for a beginner but also great for an intermediate knitter who likes to chat and relax while they’re knitting away.

The pattern gives full instructions written in English with both British and American terms.

I have used a super chunky wool which was really soft and cosy.

The hat is knitted flat on two needles and sewn up at the back (ideal if you are not keen on knitting on a round)

I would be great for a man also, maybe without the pom-pom!

Pompoms & Tassels

It is up to you whether you want to add the pom-pom to the hat or the tassels to the scarf but I felt that it added something extra to the two pieces.

You will also need a pom-pom maker or you can make one using the old traditional way with card, which is what I did.
