Make this on any bulky machine. No patterning ability is required so hobby machines work fine. Use any #4 worsted weight yarn and adjust the stitch dial to get 4 stitches/6 rows per inch. This will occur about the middle of the dial on most bulkies. In this design, row count is just as important to fit as stitch count. Sizes fit babies to small adults. Approximate head circumference to fit each size would be 14, 15.5, 17, 18.5, 20, 21” around. Typically, people wear these sizes at ages 0-3 months, 6 months, 1 yr, very young child, older child, tween-small adult.

SHORT ROWING
For this pattern, the automatic short row is recommended. To do this, knit across the row with the carriage, then place the most recently knitted needle into hold. For Brother machines make sure the carriage is set on H rather than N. For most Singer/Studio/Silver Reed machines, push the side lever BACK. These settings will cause the needles that are pulled all the way forward to hold not knit when the carriage comes across. Do double check the hold settings in your manual. The levers are located in different places on different ages of Singer type machines.
