YARN, GAUGE AND MACHINE
2 strands of Tamm Bebe run together as 1 or 1 strand of Tamm Nordic form the main color. These get the same gauge and will give you an enormous color range to choose from. 2 cones will be needed whether using Bebe or Nordic. 4 each ounces of 6 contrast colors are also needed. The jacket can be made on 9mm bulky machines at about stitch size 5, mid-gauge machines at a larger stitch size, 8mm bulkies at about stitch size 6 and Bonds using key-plate 3 dot. Adjust to get a gauge of 4.5 stitches and 6 rows per inch.
NOTES
1)Fair-isle design may be made by punching a card or by hand selecting. Hand selecting is much simpler if you have an assortment of needle selectors with various spacings. Every other needle, every 3rd needle, every 6th needle and 2X1 are used repeatedly. An easy method for making your own needle selectors is given in the book Cheap Tricks. To work the design by hand: pull the needles that will receive the contrast color to hold position.
