A simple pair of toe-up socks with a short row heel featuring an easy-to-memorise lace pattern. Without a purl stitch in sight, this lace pattern works up quickly and produces a delicate zig-zag, reminiscent of the tracks small birds leave in the snow on a cold and frosty winter morning. As an added bonus the lace stitch is quite stretchy and will accommodate a range of foot widths without too much trouble. This pattern is written for the magic loop technique but can be easily adapted for your preferred method of small circumference knitting.
