Novelty yarn felted in with the wool gives this hat and muff a “fur” look.

Size: This hat will felt to fit most adults. Exact size is determined by the felting time and with blocking.

Muff measures approximately 12” long by 8” in diameter.

Yarn Requirements: Hat requires approximately 345 yards of a worsted weight wool that will felt easily and 90 yards of a furry novelty yarn.

Muff requires 170 yards of wool and 120 yards of the novelty.

Photographed items are knit in Naturally’s Tussock 10 ply and Fizz from SR Kertzer.

Needles: Size US 10.5 and US 11 24” circular needles. Hat also requires a set of double pointed needles in size 10.5 and a spare, circular needle at least 3 sizes smaller than working needle. Size J crochet hook for cast on.

Gauge: Before felting, 15 stitches = 4” with a single strand of the worsted weight wool and the smaller needle.

Felted Gauge: In wool alone, 20 sts = 4.5”, 20 rows = 2.5” and in wool with novelty yarn: 10 sts = 3.2”, 10 rows = 2”.
