Inspired by the international bestselling series, A Song of Ice and Fire, also known as Game of Thrones, by George R.R. Martin and the widely popular HBO show based off of the novels—this blanket is not for the faint of heart. Knit in roving style, jumbo size yarn on US 17 needles, this blanket is a large, cuddly beast to keep even the Night King warm.

This massive blanket is knit flat and starts with two rows of garter stitch to prevent the stockinette body from rolling. There is a small garter stitch border (consisting of two stitches) on each side of the stockinette body, and the blanket ends with two rows of garter stitch.

Whether you are a GoT fan or just want a chunky, cozy throw to accent your living room, this blanket is perfect for cuddling and decoration.

Finished Measurements: 36.5 by 83 inches, blocked.

Yarn: Jumbo weight, 7. 616 yards used total. Sample shown in Knit Picks Super Tuff Puff (100% wool, single ply, Jumbo weight, 44 yards, 200 gram skein), White; 14 skeins used.

Needles: US 17 (12.75 mm) 36-inch or longer circular needle, or size to obtain gauge.

Notions: 2 stitch markers, scissors, and a tapestry needle.

Gauge: 6 stitches and 3 rows = 4 inches blocked of stockinette stitch.

Notes:

  • Blanket size is adjustable. Simply add or remove stockinette rows for desired size.
  • Blanket is knit flat. I used a US 17 circular needle to help me accommodate and work with the number of stitches.
  • Final dimensions dependent on how aggressively blanket is blocked.
  • Long-tail cast-on is recommended.
  • Gauge is not critical for this project.
