This is the shawl was inspired by the books and TV series Game of Thrones. But you don’t have to be a GoT enthusiast to enjoy it. Even though some of the inspiration from the series is quite hard and cold I think the final product is actually pretty and feminine. It is a single skein crescent-shaped shawl. The different stitch sections are divided by garter sections which help to link them and draw it all together.

The shawl has different pattern sections separated by garter ridges. Below is my inspiration from the series, some of which might be a bit of a spoiler so don’t read on if you don’t want to know. Spoiler Alert
It starts with:

Wall section: This made me think of Jon Snow and going to the wall.

Snow: Winter is coming is a theme throughout the series and books so I wanted a section of snow

Waves: Lands across the sea and the Iron Islands are represented in the wave section.

Dragon Scales: Dany and her dragons, they are going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Stakes: The war, spears, stakes and swords all represented here.

Icicles: The shawl end with the Icicle points, the reminded that while they all play at who gets the Iron throne the real threat is coming from beyond the wall.
