I love roses so much! In my climate the season for roses is so short, and all winter long I look forward to the warm season to come when I can start growing, smelling, picking and admire roses again. I made this cute set of cape and fingerless mittens to give me a reminder of the beautiful summerseason!
The cape is knitted from the top down and in the round. First the polo-neck, followed by the gorgeous rose-patterned yoke. The bottom section is knitted in seedstiches finished with a rib trimming. The mittens are worked on double-pointed needles. The set is knitted in Quince & Co. “Chickadee” - a lovely, smooth and soft merino. I think you could knit it up in a similar wool/merino/alpaca with good result, as long as you respect the gauge. Choose your 3 favourite colors to make this eye-catching set!
I have used 4 balls of main-color for size 1 and 2, 5 balls for size 3, and 1 ball of the two colors for the rose-pattern. With this amount of yarn you have enough wool to make the mittens as well.
The photos are taken of a size 2 for the cape and size 1 for the mittens. And as a paradox the pictures are taken in Spain in the middle of summer. No roses in sight - except for the ones on the cape and mittens! (But lots and lots of other beautiful flowers!!!)
