These gorgeous mittens feature a lacy cuff, baltic braid trim, and a geometric Lithuanian design that represents the sun. In winter, there is not much sunshine and thoughts of long, warm summer days are important to keep up morale during the cold dark months. The oak is also knowns as the sun tree, the tree of the Goddess Saulė who lives in a castle surrounded by a magical apple orchard. These trees produce apples of gold, silver, and diamonds.

Kit Available on my website

I’ve got a kit that I’ve put together to go with a new workshop I’m teaching this fall. These gorgeous mittens feature a lacy cuff, baltic braid trim, and a geometric Lithuanian design that represents the sun and stars. In winter, there is not much sunshine and thoughts of long, warm summer days as well as the sparkle of the night-time stars are important to keep up morale during the cold dark months.

The yarn is 100% merino put up in 4 oz skeins. The dark color is a deep gray with purple undertones. The light color is unbleached white. One skein of each color is included in the kit along with the pattern. I have links to videos for some of the interesting techniques as well.
