Pattern Description from Interweave Knits, Holiday Gifts 2009: “‘The Winter Wren Stockings are inspired by traditional Fair Isle stranded colorwork: Alternating wide and narrow bands of X and O motifs, lozenges, and tiny peerie patterns combine for an unexpectedly complex effect. A palette of neutral colors with a pop of cherry red pays homage to the spectrum of natural fleece colors that made ‘colorwork’ possible before the widespread use of inexpensive dyes - but this version is in luxe, washable merino.’ - Eunny Jang.”
