This knit afghan pattern uses a ribbed cable and moss/seed stitch, making it look the same from both sides. The pattern includes downsizing information. It is very easy and works up fast for an intermediate beginner knitter. The pattern creates a graceful scalloped edge. The length of the afghan is not specified in the pattern, but the yarn yardage is based on a 57-inch length.

I used Patons Decor in the color Pale Aubergine, but Lion Brand Wool-Ease would also work well and be a little softer. Use two strands of yarn throughout the pattern. A single strand of chunky yarn could be substituted.

Jumbo stitch markers are highly recommended to separate the cables. You’ll need a large crochet hook for casting on and a cable hook or stitch holder to create the cable twist.

The specified gauge is subject to the type of yarn and your knitting tension. Knitting a swatch of moss/seed stitch is recommended.
