This extra special bunting will have everyone talking - and asking where they can get hold of this exclusive glittery delight.

It’s a great starter project for knitters who want to practice incorporating crystals/beads into their knitted wire, with a super easy construction of gradual decreasing.

The sky is the limit when it comes to colour combinations. Let your imagination run wild with the many coloured wires available, or keep it classic with gold wire and clear crystals. The finished decoration is sure to be brought out for all those special occasions. The bunting could also be customised for special occasions to include wedding themes, christenings, baby showers etc.

The pattern consists of written instructions and a chart to indicate where the crystals need to be knitted in.

Materials & Equipment needed:

• Swarovski Elements® crystal 4mm bicone beads x 28 for each bunting piece in colours of your choice.
• 0.25mm / 30 gauge colour-enamelled copper jewellery wire (Artistic wire)/in colour of your choice. From years of making wire jewellery, I find this is the best gauge for knitting and crocheting with. It’s flexible/thin enough to not hurt your fingers when knitting, but is also strong and retains it’s shape once knitted/crocheted.
• Organza ribbon / other ribbon to hang the bunting
• 3mm knitting needles - straight

Swarovski elements crystals can be bought at any online beading store.

The wires are widely available online - I sell a few colours on my website www.mahliqa.co.uk and on www.mahliqa.etsy.com

I also sell a few starter kits of wire & crystals which would make around 3 bunting pieces. If you buy more crystal, there is enough wire in the starter kits to make over a dozen pieces.

You can easily adapt this pattern and use yarn instead. If you don’t want to use crystals/beads, use DK yarn and 4mm/US 6 needles. If you want to also incorporate crystals you would use fingering weight yarn and go up to a 3.25mm/ US 3 needle. You will also need a collapsible eye needle to thread the crystals onto the yarn before casting on.
