I began working this ornament based on the pattern:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/small-5-pointed-s...

However, the turns were too difficult to do in wire, so I rewrote that pattern.

You can also use 100% cotton yarn with this pattern, simply go down 2 or 3 sizes with the needles.

MATERIALS

Artistic copper wire, 30 gage (or any other type / color wire you would like)
5 Double pointed needles, size 6 (4.0 mm), or any size needed to obtain gauge
Crochet hook

Materials can be swapped as long as gauge is met.

Finished size: Approx. width =3 inches (6.4 cm) X height = 3 inches (6.4 cm)
Gauge: Approx. 18 sts and 29 rows = 4 inches (10.2 cm)

NOTES

— » For this pattern I used a knit cast-on. After making the first stitch with a slipknot, I used both the tail and the regular wire to knit my stitches doubled. This also helps hide the tail in the very loose and open wire knitting.

— » Increases: M (make stitch) is used consistently and means to knit into the lower row.

— » Binding Off uses a variation of a standard 3-needle bind off.
