If felt like a natural flow to work an adult version of my baby/toddler cardigan Wish and Hope: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wish-and-hope.
I made a few changes, as the adult body requires more shaping, and I really wanted to work a classic cardigan that can be worn for ages….

Design
Classic lines and comfort are keywords describing the cardigan. The lovely leaf-pattern is worked around the lower hem as well as along the fronts and center sleeve. All edges are worked in simple rib-pattern, k2, p2. The neckline is elegantly V-shaped.
The sleeves are set-in which gives a perfect fit. The cardigan is supposed to have positive ease for a relaxed look.

Construction
The lower body is worked bottom-up in one piece from cast-on to underarms where work is separated for upper fronts and back to be worked in separate pieces to shoulders. Shoulders are worked together using the 3-needle bind-off method.Sleeves are worked bottom-up to underarms, sleeve-cap is worked back and forth. Buttonband/neck-band is worked in one piece from picked up sts along the fronts, plus the backs neck-sts.

Sizes
There are 6 sizes to choose from:
Finished chest measurement, when buttoned: X-Small: 82cm/32.5” Small: 93cm/36” Medium: 103cm/40” Large: 112cm/44” X-Large: 121cm/47.5” XX-Large: 132/52” Sample is worked in size Small with 4” of positive ease.

Materials Yarn: Any sport weight yarn that knits up to gauge can be used. I used the 2-ply kid mohair from Canard to work the cardigan. This yarn comes in skeins of 50gr/1.76oz and 176m/193yards. You will need 880/880/1058/1232/1408/1584 meters (5/5/6/7/8/9 skeins) of this yarn to work the cardigan. Needles: 1 circular needle, 80cm/32” (or longer), size 3mm/US2.5 for the lower and upper body. 1 set of dpn’s 3mm/US2.5 for the sleeves (or a circular needle, if working the magic loop).
1 circular needles, 3mm/US2.5 to work the button-band and neck-edge. Notions: removable stitchmarkers – 4 (or more, if you want to place markers between each pattern-repeat of the hem), 8 buttons to match the buttonholes, separate holders, tapestry needle, blocking tools.

Gauge
26 sts and 36 rows = 10x10cm/4x4”.

The pattern
The pattern is very detailed and guides you through the process from cast-on to finished results. The leaf-lace pattern is charted as well as written out row-by-row (and round-by-round). All measurements are given in cm’s as well as in inches. All necessary stitch-counts are given. There is a schematic.
Knitting skill: intermediate.
