Large, colorful, seamless modular shawl. Everything is joined as you knit. It is fun to make!
Techniques used: garter, decreases/increases, picked up stitches. I included 2 options for the top of the shawl: one modular, with triangles that are worked in the round (not so easy), and the second option is all plain garter that is worked flat (very easy).

Materials fingering weight yarn in 3 contrasting colors: 800 meters of purple, 400m of neon green, and 400m of variegated multi.

  • circular needles 4mm wide: one with shorter wire for modular elements and one with wire long enough to hold 600+ sts for the top and bottom border.
  • 3 stitch markers.

You can use self-striping yarn for the modular part, in which case you will need an additional skein to match colors on modular elements. Some amount of yarn will get wasted, and it is impossible to predict how much. If you plan to make modular part entirely with self-striping yarn, you might need as many as 3 skeins (1200m).
More reasonable option is to use self-striping for some elements, but not all.

Size: the shawl is close to 3/5th of the circle, with over 70cm drop and over 2m wingspan.
