Introducing Countess Ablaze’s first published pattern, With Teeth is a shawlette to keep those shoulders warm in the Underworld.

The top down shawl begins in the traditional way but soon splits into two with a zip - yes, you read that correctly! - a zip, to represent Persephone being torn between two worlds. The two sides are then knitted separately, one for the Underworld of pomegranate seeds and the other for springtime with a scattering of seeds and flowers.

This pattern is written to use 2 circular needles, however it can be adapted to use one longer circular needle if preferred.

Materials:

  • 1 skein Countess Ablaze The English Gentleman DK (75% British Bluefaced Leicester & 25% Masham; 240 m / 262 yds; 100 g) in Forbidden to Speak Her Name
  • 2 x 4 mm / US 6 circular needle, 80 cm / 32”

  • 25 cm zip
