Witty Kitty is an overlay mosaic crochet pattern dedicated to my love of cats! Included in the pattern are some different color combination ideas, as well as layout ideas and printable miniatures to design your own layout! It includes the original pattern PDF, printer-friendly PDF, a PDF with all graphs on one page (perfect for tablets!), and a side-by-side written pattern PDF to reduce the need to flip pages!

I made 2 prototypes of this piece (I just loved it too much!). For one, I used a DK weight yarn (details below) and made the 3-weight throw size measuring 50” x 65” without the border. I crocheted this piece fairly tight due to the nature of cotton yarn; this size is subject to change depending on your crochet tension. For the second one, I used a 4-weight yarn (details below) and made a 3x3 piece that measured 40” x 40”.

This is an intermediate level pattern and includes a beginner’s guide on how to do mosaic crochet. It uses angled stitches (approximately 6 per cat panel). I have included a photo tutorial for those stitches, as well as a tutorial video. The PDF does include a photo tutorial on creating a basic envelope border.

The PDF pattern is written in U.S. terminology and includes the full written pattern in a row-by-row format, as well as the ticked graphs. The written format is in a new, easier to read format! Also included is a printer-friendly PDF that allows you to print only the necessities for the pattern.

Yarn specifics:

Piece 1: Malabrigo Verano in Macchiato and Mud - 4mm hook.
Piece 2: Caron Cinnamon Swirl Cakes in Heatwave and Red Heart in White - 5mm hook.

Please note that different yarns, different tensions, and different hook sizes will all utilize a different amount of yarn. All yarn totals, including yarn usage per cat or paw panel, are included in the pattern. There are also estimations of yardage needed for varying sizes of blankets.

4-Weight yarn:
Gauge: 4”x4” = 13st x 13st
