The Wizardy Socks are a perfectly magical textured design. I created this design for my daughter Bryony, being inspired by her love of the fictional character Professor Remus Lupin.

I always see Remus as wonderfully shabby, so the stitch pattern reflects the slightly crumpled fabric of his clothing.

These socks make the ideal project for a new sock knitter, as they use just knits and purls to create the pretty fabric.

They are a perfectly unisex design, so you could knit Wizardy Socks for the whole family!

The pattern also includes a DK version, for extra super snuggly wizardy-ness!

Sock Details

The socks feature a gorgeous textured design that uses just knits and purls. I used a traditional heel flap and gusset, with my Umbrella Toe.

The DK version also has a heel flap and gusset, and a modified version of my Umbrella Toe.

Sizes

The pattern comes in 3 sizes - Small (56 sts), Medium (64 sts) and Large (72 sts). The texture pattern is both written and charted. Instructions are written for the magic loop method, but other methods can of course be used.

The DK version also comes in 3 sizes.

Yarn

The pattern sample is knitted using a skein of my own hand dyed yarn in the colourway ‘Remus Lupin’.

The DK version is knitted using 2 x 50g skeins of King Cole Merino Blend DK in the shade ‘Tiree’. Each 50g skein is 113 yards (104 metres). I knitted the size medium and had a little left over, but you may need more than 100g if you knit the size large or like to knit a long leg.
