Pattern description: Featuring an abstract colorwork design that illustrates the canopy, underbrush and soil diversity of a healthy forest, the Wooded Sweater is sure to be a warm companion on your next excursion into the wilderness. The Wooded Sweater tells the story of the forest from an ecological perspective and was designed to bring awareness to environmental stewardship. To help in spreading the word about sustainable forestry practices, 20% of the proceeds from the sale of this pattern will be donated to Project Learning Tree, an initiative of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, that provides environmental education to youth, developing an awareness and appreciation of the environment and enabling them to take personal responsibility for sustaining our natural world. You can visit their website here. As with all my patterns, another 10% will be donated to Promised Fibers.

Construction notes: The Wooded Sweater is a boxy pullover knit from the top down in one piece. The V-neck is worked flat with raglan increases at the sleeves, then joined in the round for the body. The raglan increases feature a single twist on each side. The colorwork section is in chart form, as is the band of simple cables at the hem. The sleeve motif is in written form and uses an elongated stitch technique to outline a transition of stitch pattern. There are two sleeve cuff variations to choose from. Modification options are annotated in the notes section to make tailoring the pattern to your fit needs and preferences more accessible. These include adjustments for: V-neck depth, waist tapering, vertical bust darts (as generated by Master Yarnsmith), and sleeve fit.

Gauge: 5 sts and 7 rows per inch in stockinette.

Needles: US 5/3.75mm 32”/80cm circular for body and sleeves. US 4/3.5mm circular for neckband. US 4/3.5mm using your preferred method of small circumference knitting for sleeve cuffs (or sizes needed to obtain gauge).
