As it is a perfect, quick gift for the holidays! I have a newborn son, and even with the sleep deprivation and constant feeding, I am able to power through one faux sock a day.

The idea for these faux socks came from winter time chunky knit lust. Living in California the need for thick, luxurious wool socks is pretty slim, but traveling to snowy Lake Tahoe for New Years provides real needs for warming up. Watching the snow bunnies trot around the resorts for dinner with their big wool socks under even chunkier boots sparked an idea. In order to get those socks to fit, a sizing up my boots was needed, but what about all of the fabulous winter time boots I already own?

With the blustery winds of winter come shorter days, and seemingly less and less time to get ready for the holidays. With boot season in full swing, these boot cuffs make you the clever fox, by creating the look of a luxurious wool sock with only a fraction of the work, and not changing the fit of your foot in your boot, though they are absolutely perfect for narrowing the gap at the top of too large boot shaft. Shown in the color of the Woodland fox—Woodsy Brown Tweed, of course!—these Boot Dickies™ will also make the perfect holiday gift, taking only a few hours to knit each one.
