Woodland Owl Chart
This is a chart that you could use for either knitting or crochet. Part of my woodland series, this little owl has a different personality depending on the yarn you choose. I made one hat with chunky yarn and got a fat, self-satisfied little guy. I made another with sock yarn and got a thin little owl with a questioning expression.
The chart is read from right to left on the bottom and all odd rows, and from left to right on all even rows. (Unless you are knitting in the round, in which all rows start from right to left). Use different yarns for each of the different colours. The picture works out better if you wait to weave in the ends until the end--there are a lot of little ends and knitting them all in can result in a bumpy look. I left long tails and wove in my ends with a crochet hook afterwards.
