This hat pattern is a twofer! Using the same cabling pattern you can create a “trees” motif (the green hat) or a “ferns” motif (the blue hat). Both motifs are charted separately - just make sure that you follow the pattern that you want!

This hat uses two stitch cabling to create its subtle pattern. If you haven’t done cabling without a cabling needle I strongly recommend learning. These small cables are the BEST thing to learn this skill on and once you get the hang of it knitting cables will be much faster.

In order to knit this hat you’ll need about 150-200y of worsted weight yarn. You’ll want to be able to knit in the round, do simple cables, and use three different decreases (SSK/K2tog/CCD).

Keep an eye on your gauge before embarking on this pattern, most people use a US7 (4.5mm) to match the pattern.

Because I accidentally posted the pattern a little bit wrong (fern motif only!), this pattern will remain free for the month of March!
