Woodworking, like knitting, can be the perfect platform to combine sturdy construction, fine detail, custom style, and functionality to warm the heart and last a lifetime (with proper care). The cables used in this pattern remind me of stacks of wood and the pattern a saw makes when cutting through the grain. These mitts, specifically knit with Madelinetosh Tosh DK in the Colorway ‘Firewood’ are sure to keep your favorite woodworker’s or knitter’s hands warm while they forage for stash, Maple or Merino.

To make a larger mitt for burly man hands, add an extra purl stitch or two between the cables. If that look doesn’t work for you, add an extra stitch or two to one of the cables. I recommend pairing extra stitches and balancing them between cables so they remain the same size for a consistent look.
