Wool and Wing
Get the WOOL AND WING knitting pattern for free with the purchase of 2 or more hanks of yarn. Simply purchase the yarn through my website thebluebirdbox.ca and you will be emailed a download code for the pattern to use on Ravelry or my website.
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner and Intermediate.
NOTES
This long, wedge-shaped scarf starts out as a classic triangle shawl, with increases at the top edges and central spine, and i-cord edges. Once the triangle is created, you then split the stitches, placing half of them on hold, and work from the centre out, more like in the manner of a scarf. There is a simple lace pattern for those intimidated by lace (Beginner Version), with a more complicated stitch pattern for adventurous knitters (Intermediate Version). Both versions are constructed in the same manner. There is also an abundance of garter in this pattern, providing a smooth flow to your work. There are two sizes provided; one that can be worked in a single hank of yarn, and a larger version that requires two hanks.
I created this pattern to highlight the features of my yarn line, created from the fleece of my own flock of Shetland and Icelandic sheep. The two-ply spin is perfect for lace, as the stitches flatten out once blocked, allowing the yarn-overs to open up.
