Ontario, like most Canadian provinces, is a vast place. Its landscapes are as varied as those of entire countries. Each region has its own characteristics, which is never more evident than in its agricultural products. With the 12 days of Ontario Wool sampler, consider the provenance of each yarn as you work it into this cozy textured cowl. While your stitches blend the different colours and fibre types together, think about how the features of each region are reflected in the wool of the animals raised on the land, and how it all comes together into a diverse and beautiful whole.

The 12 days of Ontario Yarn Sampler (available from Twin Oaks Farm) contains twelve 10 g skeins, each of a different yarn from a different Ontario farm (in Canada). Throughout the pattern, the yarns are substituted as you run out of your previous skein, rather than at the end of the round. You can choose to use the yarns in the order that you open them, day by day, or to open them all at once and organize them into two contrasting groups of 6 (e.g. a dark group and a light group).

The pattern gives the directions for both fingering and DK weight versions.

The two-colour stitch pattern is created with slipped stitches, and therefore only one yarn is being used at any time.
