The mammoth’s body is worked in one piece from the back to the front, then sewn together and stuffed. Its ears are knitted separately and sewn on. This is a fun project to dive deep into your yarn stash and use up bits and bobs of leftovers. I originally created this stuffed toy to do something with the fun fur my mother-in-law gave me. (I’m not generally a fan.) I found I loved the “natural” colors the best, but who says you will? The pictured mammoths were knitted with a strand of fun fur and two stands of worsted weight yarn. You will get different sized mammoths depending upon what combined gage the yarn you chose gives you. The optional tusks use a basic crochet stitch and scraps of yarn. This is an easy first toy to make, as it only uses basic stitches. Level up your knitting!
