This pattern can be used either for a baby blanket or a scarf.

It is a nice combination of fishtail lace and woven (basketweave) columns and has a garter stitch border. The ridges in the fishtail sections add a nice thickness to the blanket or scarf. The back side also looks good with a combination of purl stitches with lace interspersed and the woven columns. The back side rows are knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches. The width and length of the blanket can easily be adjusted.

7/30/2023 I added a revision to the pattern that makes knitting two ends of the scarf and splicing them together unnecessary (blue photos). I also added a matching hat pattern.
