This toe-up adventure features sinuous cables which snake around the back of the leg to make room for a central cable motif. The unique Y-shaped short-row heel provides a roomier fit without wraps.

Wye is Stage 1 of the 2014 Tour de Sock, a six-stage speed knitting competition benefitting Doctors Without Borders. The pattern was exclusively for TDS racers when first released, and is now available to the general knitterly public.

Written for women’s small, medium, and large (7.5”, 8.5”, 9.5” circumference), the size can be fine-tuned by adjusting gauge. You’ll also need a cable needle (if you use one) and at least seven stitch markers. Designer used 370 yards to knit a medium sock with a 10” foot length.

Note: initial feedback is that these socks run wide. Please note that the gauge listed in the pattern is a range (8.5-9 spi) but the sizing is based on knitting at 9 spi.
