This shawl is worked flat from the top down starting with a garter tab. Although it is worked flat and so you could use straight needles, we strongly recommend using a circular needle because the large number of stitches will not fit comfortably on standard straight needles. The lace and cable patterns can be worked either from the charts or the written instructions, whichever you prefer.

This issue is on sale from 15th October in supermarkets, newsagents and craft stores across the UK and on our website. It is also available digitally via our apps for Apple and Android devices and through Pocketmags here.
