Description
With classic cables and clean unisex lines, the name Wyndfael captures the essence of this fingerless mitt design.

Old English for windfall, bonus or blessing, this pattern is packed with such possibilities, you may find yourself making mitts for everyone on your knitting list.

Fast, easy twisted stitches create reversible mitts with mini-cables on one side and 2x2 ribs on the other. The cable stitch doesn’t require a cable needle, and the cable-rib combination produces a stretchy, hand-hugging fabric that requires no additional shaping.

Mitts are worked flat, so they’re compact and ideal for knitting on the go. The simple, no-fuss thumb openings also mean mitts can be worn as folded cuffs, gauntlets or wristers for maximum versatility.

As an added plus, the pattern includes directions for two mini-cables, two design options and five sizes (XS to XL). Written for the worsted weight yarn of your choice, it readily adapts to a range of yarn weights and fiber blends, and is a perfect one-skein project.

It’s your call. Follow the pattern as written, or use the tips, tricks and simple modification ideas to tailor each pair to your tastes.

Skill Level 2: Easy
Wyndfael mitts are quick, easy and suited to any knitter who can cast on, knit, k2tog, ktbl, purl, slip stitches and bind off.
