Xanthippe, while being a fun word to say was also the argumentative wife of Socrates.
The texture of the simple cross stitch pattern creates a small ‘argument’ with the plain garter stitch body and crescent shaping.

This shawl allows you to use two contrasting yarns without having to juggle with more than one colour for each row.

Construction
Xanthippe is crescent shawl, with a top down construction.
The pattern has you work the body of the shawl in garter stitch, forming a long shallow crescent.

Once you reach a specific stitch count, a colour-work section is knit. You then move on to complete two more garter stitch and colour-work section before finishing with a picot edging.

The colour-work can then be knit from either the chart or written instruction options.

Yarn Requirements
4ply/fingering weight yarn in 2 colours.
main colour (for the body, and striping in the Colourwork): 700m
contrast colour (for striping in Colourwork and edging ): 300m
