Xavier's Doodle Bee
This pattern was created for Jack, a local autistic child that wrote the book Xavier’s Doodle World, ABC Animals at the age of 9. This bee is created off of Jack’s drawing of the bee on the cover of the book, which is available for purchase on Amazon. I hope that you enjoy making this project!
This is a digital pattern for creating your own Xavier’s Doodle Bee. I used weight 4 yarn and a 3.5 mm hook, however you can use whatever yarn and hook you would like. I used less than one skein of each of the yarns I used.
My bee is a total of 5” from end to end using RHSS and a 3.5 mm hook.
Supplies:
3.5 mm hook
RHSS Sunflower Yellow
RHSS Black
RHSS Red
12 mm Safety Eyes
Yarn Needle
Stitches Used:
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
dec: decrease
inc: increase
BLO: back loop only
FLO: front loop only
ss: slip stitch
ch: chain
Additional Notes:
This pattern is written for continuous rounds, Use a stitch marker
to keep track of your beginning of the round and a tally counter to keep track of rows.
I use invisible decreases throughout this project.
Repeat instructions are in parenthesis - example (sc, inc) 6 means to work one single crochet and in the following stitch work an increase. Repeat those instructions a total of 6 times.
The stitch count for each round is in parenthesis at the end of each set of instructions for that round. - example (sc, inc) 6 (18) tells you that you will have 18 stitches at the end of that round.
Stuff your project as you go.
Most importantly - Have fun! Contact me if you have any issues, I
am happy to help!
