This pattern is part of a larger X-Files project I’m working on and I’m hoping to release additional squares soon. The idea is to design one square for each episode in the series. This square is inspired by Season 1, Episode 5 and depicts the iconic drawing of the Jersey Devil.

The pattern can be used for different things depending on how you sew the squares together. You could make a blanket or a scarf, for example. Ideas for how to sew the squares together are included.

Basically, the chart can be used for knitting or crocheting. I decided to include links to videos that might be helpful.

Yarn: You can use any yarn you like! Just make sure that both colours have an equal yarn weight, e.g. both colours are worsted weight, fingering weight, etc. I recommend worsted weight if you like to have a slightly bigger square and if you are not as experienced in working with two colours. Fingering weight will give you a smaller square, but it’s also more finicky.

Yardage: You will need about 50 metres of yarn for this square. That’s 25 metres of each colour. This assumes you’re using worsted-weight yarn. You’ll need less if you use fingering-weight yarn.
