These universally flattering fingerless gloves feature alternating grouped rows of X and O stitches, hence the “hugs and kisses” name! Crocheted using a soft Aran weight wool yarn, these gloves are surprisingly warm given their open weave, and can be worn on their own or with a thin pair of gloves underneath. They also perfectly compliment the matching XOXO Cowl! (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/xoxo-cowl)

You will receive two pattern files to download -- one in U.S. Terminology, and one in U.K. Terminology. Choose the language that suits you best!

These fingerless gloves are crocheted seamlessly in the round from the bottom up.

SIZES:
S/M (L/XL). See chart for all finished measurements. Small/Medium is approx. 7” long x 4” wide (8” around). Large/Extra Large is approx. 8.5” long x 5” wide (10” around). Model is wearing a size S/M.

There is not a huge difference between the two sizes because this pattern is quite stretchy and can accommodate a range of hand sizes. When deciding which size to make, think over the measurements in the chart below when choosing. They were all taken with the completed gloves laid flat comfortably with no stretching, and before any washing. If you measure along the way, your numbers may not match until the very end. If you use a yarn other than the one recommended there may not be the same stretchiness to the glove, even if you achieve gauge.

Finished Measurements

Length (down the center)
S/M = 7 in. / 18 cm.
L/XL = 8 in. / 20.5 cm.

Width (at widest point)
S/M = 4 in. / 10 cm.
L/XL = 5 in. / 12.5 cm.

Fingers and Wrist Cuff Opening Width
S/M = 3 in. / 7.5 cm.
L/XL = 3.5 in. / 9 cm.

Thumb Hole Width
S/M = 2.5 in. / 6.5 cm.
L/XL = 3 in. / 7.5 cm.

HOOK:
J-10/6mm

YARN:
Aran/Heavy Worsted weight (Category #4) This pattern uses a true aran/heavy worsted weight yarn as opposed to a plain worsted weight (there can sometimes be confusion about this term in the US versus the UK, especially when they are both considered to be category #4).

SHOWN HERE:
Quince & Co.’s Osprey in Belize, 100% American wool, 3-ply, 170 yards (155 meters)/3.5 ounces (100 grams) per skein. Hand wash cool, lay flat to dry. I use the Belize blue color here, but they offer this yarn in 65 different colors, so you have the ability to make this in just about any color your heart desires!

Totals = 1 skein = S/M uses approx. 2.0 ounces, approx. 97 yards. L/XL uses approx. 2.8 ounces, approx. 136 yards.

This wool yarn is remarkably soft and bouncy. I highly recommend using this brand, especially since it’s the somewhat elusive aran/heavy worsted weight. If you decide to use a different yarn, look for a similarly comfy and cushiony one.

GAUGE:
3 X-Rows x 3 X-Stitches = 2” x 2” square. Go up or down in hook size if needed to achieve the correct gauge. The gauge is checked by starting the pattern and confirming the measurements above, as opposed to creating a separate swatch before starting the pattern.

NOTIONS:
Tape measure (to check gauge), yarn needle (to weave in ends)
