When the 50 Shades of Grey movie came out in February of 2015, everyone’s Facebook feeds were inundated with posts and opinions of the book and movie. Katie of Yarn Love decided the best way to counteract all the Grey was with a special rainbow colorway, 50 Shades of Yay. And I decided that such a colorway needed to be knit into a thong.

Yay! is written for a luxury fingering weight yarn. The sample was knit in Yarn Love’s Elizabeth Bennet, a super soft blend of merino, bamboo, and silk. One 50 gram skein should be enough for all sizes.

Skills/stitches needed: knitting flat, knit, purl, knit and purl single decreases, yo, lifted increases.

Like the closely related Eve’s Leaves, YAY is a perfect (and perfectly amusing) gift for your favorite bride-to-be, or a way to encourage your SO’s appreciation of your knitting skills.
